LIBRARY USERS

Cartoon by Peter Lewis

NAME APPEARANCE & BEHAVIOUR HABITAT
Scholasticus Domesticus
[Serious Student]
Comes equipped with books, pens, paper. Doesn't ask for directions or assistance. Nests in quietest part of the library. Often has to be removed at closing time.
Sonorius Beastiaria
[Loud Animal]
You can hear them coming, well before they get to the library. Seeks company, for conversation purposes only. Will not nest. Sole purpose is to generate noisy disruption
Volumen Confectorii
[Book Consumer]
Rare. Protected species. Borrows books on a regular basis, returns them before date due, and in an undamaged state. Migrates between new book displays and Circulation Desk
Instrumentum Adactio
[Equipment User]
Not interested in print resources. Only wants to use computers. Harmless if they suspect they're under observation. Computer areas.
Parvus Placidus
[Quiet Mouse]
Very quiet, mouselike creature. Most of the time you won't know they are there. Generally nests in Reading Area, reading.
Furunculus Serpens
[Sneaky Snake]
Smiling, friendly, appears very sincere. Always has a cheery greeting for library staff. Predator. Causes disruption to nests of other library users, plus damage to equipment and resources. Found in all library areas.
Innocuus Nomas
[Harmless Nomad]
Vacant expression, hands in pockets, often doing a "silent whistle". Wanders in, wanders around, wonders why, wanders out. Not confined to any single area of library.
Alternus Bibliothecii
[Other Librarians]
Often indistinguishable from ordinary library users. Notable behaviour includes spontaneous shelf-sorting, OPAC familiarity, and competant handling of large books. Generally in Reference, Fiction, or Non-Fiction. May request access to Special Collections.
Bellator Bibliothecii
[Warrior Librarian]
Similar in appearance and behaviour to Alternus Bibliothecii, but flippantly loquacious. Everywhere.
