Note: The opinions expressed herein are solely those of the author. Any resemblance to real librarians (living or dead, or somewhere in between) or real libraries, may be a coincidence - but probably not. Biblia, the Warrior Librarian, was created by A.B.Credaro. The practice of Warrior Librarianship is common, and therefore quite possibly in the public domain. As such, it is likely to be exempt from any copyright restrictions. However, this does not limit Warrior Librarian Weekly, its agents, employees, heirs, spouses, family pets, or others connected with the zine, from trying to make an easy buck from its use. Universal permission is granted to any website to create a link to any page on this site. Notification of such links is appreciated, but not mandatory. All material on this site was written by A.B. Beware of imitation books Collection development officers and private book buyers are warned that there are a number of books that contain the word "biblia" in the title, which are in no way related to this web site. In fact, Amazon.com alone has thousands of titles. However, none of these are actually Biblia's Guide to Warrior Librarianship. A number of indicators of fraudulence have been identified. Perhaps the most obvious of these is the author name (A.B.Credaro) and that of the illustrator (Peter Lewis) are missing from the statements of responsibility. Also, the copyright date of the genuine Biblia's Guide to Warrior Librarianship is 2003, so remember to have a close look at that CIP page. Another dead give-away is the front cover. Although Amazon.com has chosen not to display this fine work of art (as opposed to a work of fine art, but that wasn't the illustrator's fault - he could have done a museum-quality piece, but no. He was told to do a cartoon in keeping with the rest of the book), all the text is in English. At least so far. There has been so much confusion, that a Frequently Unasked Questions section has now been added to the book information page ... ...No more to read here >>
Meet Don Peek, owner of the school funding newsletter. He wants you to have a share of the six billion dollars in grant money that is being given away by governments, corporations and other entities. For US$99.00, you can get a 60 day trial to his database, or US$397.00 for a whole year. Is it worth the expenditure? Who knows. The newsletter is free, but you probably already get enough email ... ... No more to read here >>
Is there no limit to how sick our society has become? The fascination for the bizarre, macabre and downright weird is being constantly fueled with works such as Alan Bisbort's Famous Last Words (ISBN 2). As if the final utterances of the near-dead were of any interest to the average reader! Well, sure, the Warrior Librarian Literature Team read it. But then, who wants to emulate such a bunch of weirdoes anyway? Even if they did find it amusing and enlightening. And an excellent reference work. However, it was really distressing to find out that old Leo Tolstoy was a count, and not some starving writer in whatever a garret is called in Russian. When his wife, the Countessa, sensibly refused to give away all their worldly goods, he ran away from home to personally experience the poverty he had written about so eloquently. Then he got pneumonia and died. But he was 82 at the time ... ... No more to read here >>
For some reason, S.C.A.R.E. (Subversive Clowns against Readable e-text) comes up on a search for library research. And like, you know, once you get onto a web site that's a bit unusual, you sort of like, you know, lose interest in whatever it was you were originally looking for. If you can remember what it was. Like. There might be some research stuff somewhere on this site, but when you get to reading about the New Literary Underground, the Anti-genre Elite Corps, and the Ink Bomb Disposal Squad ... ... ... MORE ORIGINAL HUMOR
Research has shown that the average librarian will take 15 to 20 minutes to read this web page. Anecdotal evidence is suggesting that many librarians fear they do not have enough time to investigate the humor links. The majority of the 90+ original library humor items (all written by Biblia, and not available anywhere else on the 'net) in the Humor Index are designed to take less than 2 minutes to read. However, if you choose to hang around there for hours reading them all, then re-reading them, then WLW cannot take any responsibility. You now have the choice of using the genetically unmodified Alphabetical Index or the dolphin-safe Dewey Version. Caffeine-free version has been temporarily canned, pending an FDA investigation ... MASS MEDIA: Yet again, there has been no coverage in any of the national papers on either Biblia or Warrior Librarian Weekly. Sheesh, even the Blacktown Sun and the Blacktown Advocate seem to be completely tied up with other stories ... CONFERENCES: Biblia's next conference appearance is scheduled on June 29, 2004 for the School Library Association of Queensland. Members and friends of MEMO can click here for the report on the Fargo conference. ACADEMIA: The University of Texas at Arlington now lists this website on its page 'Websites for Professional Growth'... INTERNET: Google now lists 'about' 1,830 hits for a search on the phrase "warrior librarian". Not that we check regularly or anything .... FROM THE MAILBOX: Hi to Larry, who got around to dropping us an email, 27 years and 8 months after we last saw him. He never was one for schedules or organization ... ... ... After being locked in The Vatican's vaults for over 300 years, rare manuscripts dating back to the 4th century will be published on DVD ... Reported in IT Business, a metadata expert has called for a "dictionary" to set some standards. Is it possible that he means a thesaurus? The 2,740 news reports on Australia's prime ministerial hopeful Mark Latham cover his statements on troops in Iraq, baby payments, and school-boy cricket career. Nothing on libraries or books for over two weeks now ... It's a little difficult to tell if the 3.8 million pounds of funding allocated between 39 British museums and libraries (76,000 odd each) is an April Fool's joke or not ... Canadian copyright just got a little more complicated, or possibly a little simpler, following a court decision to allow music file-sharing. At least, in Canada ... Be warned. If you are looking for this week's diversion, we have good news and bad news. Firstly, the bad news is that there is no "new" diversion, but the good news is that all past - and future - diversions have moved to their own page, which eventually become a navigation button or link when we get around to it ...
